Phonograph Records And Books Auction - ONLINE ONLY
Lot 1013:
Description
A wonderful piece of early recorded sound history, this lot features a brown wax phonograph cylinder containing the comical ditty “She Never Did The Same Thing Twice” by the prolific pioneer recording artist Len Spencer, complete with its vintage paper title slip. The cylinder is paired with a classic cylindrical cardboard Edison Gold Moulded Record container with its removable lid, originally produced by the National Phonograph Co. of Orange, New Jersey. Objectively assessing the physical state , the brown wax cylinder shows noticeable surface mold, spotting, and light organic residue throughout, which is typical for early organic wax compositions. The cardboard storage tube exhibits heavy edge wear, fading, paper loss, and a prominent tear along the upper rim, though it retains its structural integrity and legible period graphics. H 4.75″, W 2.75″, D 2.75″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
