Lot 1012:
Description
Brown wax cylinder record from the turn of the 20th century. The highlight of this lot is an incredibly rare early paper insert titled “Sleeping in the Klondike” by Bert Morphy, a vocal solo with piano accompaniment, historically tied to the United States Phonograph Co. of Newark, N.J. from circa 1899–1901. Objectively, the wax cylinder shows significant surface degradation, heavy mold/fungus spotting, and cloudiness throughout the grooved surface. The cardboard storage container displays moderate exterior wear, rubbing, and aging, while the rare paper insert shows typical light yellowing and minor creases but remains intact. H 4.75″, W 2.75″, D 2.75″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
