Description
This impressive collection of reference literature is a goldmine for any serious music technology historian or vintage audio collector. The lot features several vital texts covering early recorded sound history, including a still-sealed copy of Daniel Marty’s The Illustrated History of Phonographs (VILO Inc., New York), Michael W. Sherman’s The Collector’s Guide to Victor Records (Monarch Record Enterprises, Dallas, 1992), and Frank W. Adams’ Jukeboxes 1889-1993: Volume I (AMR Publishing Company, 1992). It also features vintage historical literature including Cal Stewart’s Uncle Josh’s Punkin Centre Stories (Stanton and Van Vliet Co., Chicago), John Tyndall’s classic Sound and Music (A.C. McClurg & Co., Chicago, 1892), and a 1974 Country Music Foundation Press reprint of the Proceedings of the 1890 Convention of Local Phonograph Companies. Each volume displays typical, minor shelf wear, light edge scuffing, and gentle aging to the page borders consistent with handling and reference use, though the Marty edition remains securely preserved in its original shrink wrap.
