Description

A fascinating trio of late 19th and early 20th-century historical volumes celebrating the golden age of scientific discovery and industrial innovation. This collection includes an 1890 edition of The Modern Seven Wonders of the World by Charles Kent, published by George Routledge and Sons (London), featuring a personalized 1890 school prize inscription and a dedication to Professor John Tyndall. Also included is a turn-of-the-century edition of The World’s Book of Knowledge and Universal Educator, published by The Topeka Book Co. (Kansas City, MO), showcasing prominent figures like Edison, Tesla, and Marconi. Completing the set is a 1912 French edition of Daniel Bellet’s Dernières Inventions, Dernières Découvertes, published by Librairie Hachette et Cie (Paris), which retains an original 1912 French language competition prize insert from Kings College. All three books feature beautifully decorated cloth boards with gilt accents, offering a wonderful look into period typography and technological optimism. The books show age-appropriate wear, including edge wear, bumped corners, minor scuffing, staining to the cloth covers, and expected foxing and toning to the interior pages. H 5″, W 10″, D 7.5″.
