Description

This remarkable collection of frontier history features photography (7) purportedly related to legendary figures of the American West, including Marshal Ben Thompson, Doc Holliday, and the Younger brothers. A standout piece is the cabinet card bearing the prestigious studio mark of Camillus Fly, the famed Tombstone, A.T. photographer known for documenting the aftermath of the O.K. Corral gunfight. The archive consists of prints, albumen cabinet cards, and several tintypes, many of which feature period hand-inscribed identifications on their reverse sides. While these items are marked with the Camillus Fly Studio and other period identifiers, potential buyers should perform their own research to confirm the identities of the sitters. The condition is characteristic of 19th-century field-collected items; the paper cards show expected toning, corner wear, and foxing, while the tintypes exhibit surface oxidation, scratches, and minor emulsion loss. H 6.5″, W 4.25″. Please see photos for condition.
