Description
This lot of two crates features a Hercules Powder, High Explosive crate. This crate displays the classic Hercules logo image and the stenciling “HERCULES PERMISSIBLE RED B 60% STRENGTH.” The second crate is a DuPont High Explosive Crate. The crate displays the red Dupont logo and the stenciling “DUPONT EXPLOSIVES / RED CROSS / EXTRA DYNAMITE / 50% STRENGTH” Both crates are constructed of light-colored wood, likely pine, with tight, finger-jointed corners. The crates are in good vintage condition consistent with their age and intended use, showing typical surface wear, some wood darkening and chips. The stenciling remains largely crisp and legible across all sides. Both crates are missing lids. Hercules Crate: H 10.5″, W 18″, D 12.25”. Dupont Crate: H 9″, W 18″, D 12”.
