Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1293:
Description
This is a desirable and genuine example of Arts and Crafts furniture from the Charles P. Limbert Company of Grand Rapids and Holland, Michigan, likely dating to the peak of the company’s Arts and Crafts production (c. 1902–1915). It’s an exemplary Arts and Crafts form, featuring a circular top and an undershelf, and is constructed from beautifully quartersawn oak, which displays the characteristic tiger-stripe ray fleck in the wood grain. The original paper label on the underside, though partial, clearly shows the classic Limbert motif of a craftsman working at a wood bench, a highly sought-after marking. The table retains its dark original finish, which has developed a lovely, rich patina over the last century. Its overall condition is good antique condition, commensurate with its age and use. There is notable wear and fading to the top’s finish, including a spot where a patch of the finish has flaked off, revealing the lighter wood beneath. There are also visible scratches, water rings, and general surface wear, but the structure remains tight and sound. H 22″, W 18″, D 18″ NOTE: Pickup/transport required. Contacts available post auction.
