Description

This is a stunning, authentic example of an early 20th-century Arts and Crafts or Mission Style library table by the Charles P. Limbert Co. of Grand Rapids and Holland, Michigan. The table is expertly crafted from quartered oak, which beautifully highlights the prominent ray flake grain characteristic of this high-quality wood. The design is pure Limbert, featuring the signature incised diamond accents at the top of the legs and a gracefully executed serpentine apron—a subtle detail that softens the rectilinear Mission form. The piece is clearly authenticated by the visible “Mr. Sturdy” mark, a graphic logo depicting a cabinetmaker at his bench, stamped onto the inside of the drawer. The table includes two drawers fitted with small, square hammered brass pulls. The overall condition is good for its age, retaining a rich, original-looking finish. Noted wear includes general surface scratching consistent with over a century of use, and a lovely aged patina with some minor flaking on the original hardware. H 29.5″, W 48″, D 28″ Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available post auction.
