Description

This is a robust and classic example of an American Arts and Crafts armchair, identified by its original label as being made by Limbert’s Arts & Crafts Furniture of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The simple, rectilinear form, flat armrests, and dark, fumed-oak finish are characteristic of the best Mission-style furniture from the early 20th century. The chair features a slat back and a plank seat base designed to hold a removable cushion, which is pictured in both black faux-leather and a separate khaki-colored cushion. Grand Rapids was a significant hub for this style, and Limberts contributed a high-quality, sturdy product to the movement. The overall condition is good, consistent with its age and use; there are scuffs and finish wear, particularly on the armrests and leg bases, suggesting it was a beloved, functional piece. The dark finish shows some areas of rubbing, revealing the lighter wood beneath, and the wooden seat base shows minor gaps between the slats. The included black cushion is likely a later replacement in good condition. H 34.5″, W 28.5″, D 22″
