Civil War Auction
Lot 248a:
Description
This forage cap is almost 6″ standing at back. The dark blue body is very dark and some random moth holes in places with very little moth tracks. The visor has a black tarp top and dark green bottom. The chinstrap is made of very thin leather that almost feels of paper. The buttons are matched set of New York Militia. The dark maroon leather sweatband is stiff and appears to be re-sewn into place by hand. The lining is medium brown quilted and padded. It shows much age and some very worn areas. It is our opinion this may be a post Civil War period Forage cap – not sure of era, but old. Please review the photos and we welcome comments.
