Civil War Auction
Lot 249:
Description
This Hardee hat appears to be an original wool felt hat. It has some weakness around outside edges of crown and right side of brim. The eagle badge looks newer and the sweatband appears to be a very professional restoration with new band. The crossed swords has patina and some lack of detail and has 4 loops and is held in place with one small piece of leather on one of the loops. The ostrich feather was black twice wrap on tip. The yellow hat cord shows fading with brighter colors in exposed areas. The lining show light age and has black paper label on inside crown with gold printed US Army Extra Manufacture logo. This hat may be more or less restored than our opinion and description. Please review photos and questions are welcome.
