Description
This fascinating piece is a wonderful modern contribution to the legacy of early recorded sound. Manufactured circa 1985 by the Electrophone Cylinder Record Company of Floral Park, New York, this 2-minute electrical process cylinder features the tune “Turn On the Heat” played by the Royal Society Jazz Orchestra. Constructed from a durable black celluloid-style composition with a cardboard core, the edge of the cylinder features crisp, incised title markings. It comes accompanied by its original heavy cardboard storage tube featuring bold checkerboard graphics and company labeling. The box is missing the lid Physically, both the cylinder and the storage tube are in good condition, exhibiting only light storage wear, minor surface dust, and faint age toning on the paper container label.
