Hand-Carved Wooden Folk Art – Doc Holliday, caricature figurine of the legendary Old West gunfighter Doc Holliday, tombstone contains a common historical error, “1852”, likely because he was baptized in 1852, he was born in 1851, artist carved “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, the texture work on the clothing and boots strongly mimics the “feather texturing” techniques used by wildlife carvers to give wooden birds a realistic look before paint is applied, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 12″ x 6 1/2″
