Hand-Carved Wooden Folk Art – Clell Miller, a notorious outlaw and key member of the James-Younger Gang, while Jesse James went to rob a bank, he stayed outside to guard the street, local citizens bravely chose to fight back, a local medial student was inside a nearby hotel, grabbed an old carbine rifle and fired a single shot across the street, striking Miller right in the chest killing him instantly, artist carved “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, the texture work on the clothing and boots strongly mimics the “feather texturing” techniques used by wildlife carvers to give wooden birds a realistic look before paint is applied, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 12″ x 6 1/2″
