Lot 2497:
Description
These are a rugged pair of vintage forged iron cowboy spurs, notable for being a matching “same-side” set rather than a mirrored pair. Both spurs feature the same orientation on the iron heel bands and leather straps, a common occurrence in early mass-produced or catalog-ordered tack where symmetry was sacrificed for utility. The set features straight shanks leading to multi-point star rowels, each equipped with original iron “jingle bobs” that provided a rhythmic chime for the rider. The iron exhibits a heavy, dark-chocolate patina with surface oxidation, while the tooled leather straps show significant age-related hardening, surface cracking, and darkening from saddle oil and use. The under-heel chains remain attached, though they show surface rust consistent with the age of the iron. H 2″, W 3.7″, D 9″ Please see photos.
