Description

This is a classic example of an antique “British Bulldog” double-action revolver, a popular self-defense sidearm from the late 19th century. Produced in Belgium, the revolver displays several Belgium proof marks on the frame and cylinder. This model is characterized by its short, 2.5” barrel, compact frame, and five-shot cylinder. The top strap is stamped “BRITISH BULL-DOG,” a common marking intended to associate the piece with the popular English design, which was immensely successful as a personal defense sidearm. The frame and cylinder are nickel plated and shows finish loss and patina. The pistol features wood checkered grips, which are in overall good condition for the age. The bore shows oxidation, and the rifling is in fair condition. The trigger and action need adjusting/repair but do function. Please see photos for overall condition. From Donley’s Wild West Town Museum. Overall length: 6.5”. Classified Antique. S/N: 18
