Description
Here is a mid-19th-century, .34 caliber double-barrel side-by-side percussion pocket pistol manufactured by Allen & Thurber in Worcester, Massachusetts. Used as a secondary weapon during the American Civil War, this pistol features a 4-inch iron barrel assembly, an iron frame, a double trigger setup, and smooth walnut bag-shaped grips. Serial number “372” is stamped on the underside of the barrel assembly and the top rib clearly displays the “ALLEN & THURBER” maker marking. The metal components show an oxidized brown patina with some pitting and surface wear, while the wood grips exhibit light scratches, scattered dings, and minor finish loss but remain structurally sound without major cracks. Mechanically, the action and trigger are tight and appear to function properly. The bore does show oxidation; however, the rifling is still prominent. Please see photos for overall condition.
