Description

This evocative collection features four distinct works of mid-20th-century American and European-style illustrative art, highlighting the rugged spirit of the frontier and the sporting life. The set includes a dynamic W. Herbert Dunton “Busting a Broncho” print, a masterfully composed scene originally created for Collier’s Weekly. This particular example is a mid-century offset lithograph on textured paper with a printed plate signature, typical of the high-quality Western decor produced between the 1950s and 1970s. Also featured is a monochrome Defending the Stockade print by Charles Schreyvogel, renowned for his authentic depictions of Western military conflicts. The sporting pieces include a classic Black Lab with Mallard and a humorous European-style “Hunting Party” lithograph depicting a chaotic scene with a fallen ox. These pieces are housed in period-appropriate wood and composite frames. Condition varies across the lot: the Schreyvogel print shows significant water staining and rippling at the bottom; the hunting party print has minor edge wear; and the Dunton piece remains in good vintage condition with light frame dings.
