Lot 2427:
Description
This vintage “First National” style Confederate flag is an intriguing piece of historical-themed folk art or a mid-century commemorative display. It features a hand-painted “KENTUCKY” identifier across the center white bar of the “Stars and Bars” design, framed in a modern black frame for preservation. While the exact age and origin are unknown, the piece has a weathered, storied look that makes it a striking conversation piece and a nice display item for a collector of Americana or regional history. The flag shows significant aesthetic wear, including heavy staining, age-toning to the fabric, and several small punctures and fraying along the horizontal seams, all of which contribute to its rustic, vintage character. H 35″, W 45″, D 1″ Modern frame needs TLC. Please see photos.
