Lot 2392:
Description
An exceptional pair of contemporary Native American style Kachina (Katsina) dolls handcrafted and signed on the base by the artist, “James.” This striking duo includes a Buffalo Dancer figurine featuring traditional faux fur head dressing, carved horns, hand-painted geometric body ornamentation, and leather accents, alongside a Hoop Dancer figurine meticulously adorned with multiple interlocking hoops, fur accents, and matching tribal motif body paint. Both figures are expertly secured to natural split-wood slab bases. Both dolls appear to be in excellent, well-preserved condition with all delicate components, feathers, hoops, and fur accents fully intact and securely attached; light natural cracking is visible on the wood bases, which is consistent with the organic material. Hoop Dancer: H 12.5″, W 7″, D 5″. Buffalo Dancer: H 14″, W 6″, D 5″. Please see photos for condition.
