Description

This expansive collection features approximately 85 antique stereoview cards spanning the late 19th and early 20th centuries, divided into 17 distinct groups, alongside a classic wooden stereoscope viewer and two framed desert landscape prints. As a seasoned collector, I can appreciate the diverse and historically significant subject matter captured here, including “The ‘Perfec’ Stereograph” series by H.C. White Co. of New York, Keystone View Company views out of Meadville, PA, and captivating historical series like the 1906 San Francisco Fire/Earthquake encampments, J.F. Jarvis American Scenery, the Roman Coliseum, Egyptian Sphinx, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and a notable series highlighting iconic Washington D.C. landmarks such as the White House, the Navy Yard, and the Capitol. The cards showcase various eras of production, from early yellow and green mounts to later lithographic and silver gelatin photographic styles on grey and orange cardstocks. The physical condition ranges from fair to good across the lot; many cards exhibit typical corner wear, minor fading, silvering, and age-related toning, while the framed prints show light frame rubbing. The wooden viewer is structurally mostly intact but shows surface scuffs, and notably, the pivot point off of the stereoscope base has suffered some damage and will require reinforcement or repair.
