Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2202:
Description
This collection consists of 16 authentic North American projectile points featuring a diverse range of lithic materials including chert, flint, and jasper. The group contains various diagnostic styles such as side-notched, corner-notched, and stemmed points, likely representing cultural periods from the Archaic to the Woodland eras. Noteworthy examples include a translucent moss agate-style notched point and several robust percussion-flaked specimens in earth-toned cherts. Several pieces show evidence of historical curation, including black mounting residue on the reverse of two points and a “DS 32″ collector’s sticker on another, suggesting they were once part of a documented private cabinet. The points are in good stable condition, exhibiting typical edge wear, minor tip blunting, and age-appropriate patination consistent with authentic field-find artifacts. H 2.5″, W 1.25″, D 0.25”. Please see photos for condition.
