Description

This exquisite two-piece ceremonial pipe is expertly hand-carved from Catlinite (red pipestone), a material traditionally sourced from the quarries of Minnesota and sacred to many Plains Tribal nations. The bowl features a stylized horse effigy, a powerful symbol of status and spiritual connection, exhibiting the smooth, waxy patina characteristic of well-handled stone. The accompanying stem is carved with a matching octagonal profile and decorative ribbing, designed to fit the T-shaped mortise of the bowl. Overall, the set is in excellent vintage condition with minor surface abrasions, small flea bites near the horse’s ears, and light soot residue within the chamber consistent with age and use. The Ryker display case is not included. H 3″, W 15.38″, D 1.25″. Please see photos.
