Description

This pair of vintage tobacco tins represents the storied history of “The Governor and Company of Adventurers of England Trading into Hudson’s Bay,” featuring the iconic “Imperial Mixture” label. These Canadian-made containers, likely dating from the mid-20th century, showcase the classic vibrant red lithography and the company’s coat of arms. The set includes a standard pocket-style flat tin and a harder-to-find tall humidor canister with a decorative knobbed lid. Both pieces feature the distinctive embossed brass-tone bottoms bearing the full company title. The lithography shows significant age-related wear, including scattered scratches, oxidation to the exposed metal surfaces (particularly on the lids and bases), and some minor denting consistent with heavy use. Small Tin: H 1.75″, W 3.5″, D 3.5″; Large Tin: H 6″, W 4.5″, D 4.5″. Please see photos.
