Description
This early 20th-century cavalry set features a US Army M1902 bridle complete with leather headstall, reins, and a Rock Island Arsenal (R.I.A.) “S” curb bit. The accompanying iron stirrups bear the rare “B.M.CO.US” stamp, identifying them as products of the Bonnell Manufacturing Company, a known government contractor. This set represents the transition in military horse equipment leading into the WWI era. The leather shows significant age-related cracking and surface wear, while the iron components and bit exhibit a heavy, authentic oxidized patina and the brass rosettes show mild verdigris. The bridle assembly measures L 68″, W 8″, D 4″, and each stirrup measures H 5.75″, W 5.5″. Please see photos.
