Lot 2023:
Description
An exceptional historical literary lot for the discerning collector of industrial and scientific history, featuring a complete three-volume set of Menlo Park Reminiscences by Thomas Edison’s former laboratory assistant, Francis Jehl. Published by the Edison Institute in Dearborn, Michigan, between 1936 and 1941, these green cloth-bound volumes provide an invaluable, first-hand chronicle of the seminal technological breakthroughs achieved at the Menlo Park laboratory. This set is made remarkably scarce by a personal presentation inscription signed by the author, “Francis Jehl,” and dated “Dec. 3-39″ on the green flyleaf of Volume Two. Accompanying the set is a hardcover copy of Volume 1 of The Papers of Thomas A. Edison: The Making of an Inventor (February 1847–June 1873), edited by Reese V. Jenkins and others, complete with its original dust jacket. From a condition standpoint, the books present in very good vintage condition, exhibiting minor shelf wear to the cover edges, light fading on the cloth spines, and standard age-toning to the interior pages, with Volume One featuring a small pencil inscription on the upper margin of the title page. Stacked H 5″, W 10.25″, D 7”. Please see photos for condition.
