Description

This lot includes a curated collection of four vintage and antique biographical books detailing the life and innovations of Thomas Alva Edison. Featured prominently is a rare, numbered limited first edition of Garrett Putman Serviss’s sci-fi classic Edison’s Conquest of Mars (Copy No. 369 of 1500), alongside an antique 1891 copy of Edison and His Inventions edited by J.B. McClure and published by Rhodes & McClure Publishing Company in Chicago. The lot is rounded out by Francis Trevelyan Miller’s 1931 biography Thomas A. Edison: Benefactor of Mankind (bearing a “Geo. H. McClung” private library bookplate) and Neil Baldwin’s 1995 modern classic Edison: Inventing the Century (First Edition). These cloth-bound and jacketed volumes showcase the enduring legacy of the American inventor through various eras of publishing. The collection shows age-appropriate wear, including fading, shelf wear to the edges, light staining, and minor scuffing to the covers and spines, though the bindings remain intact and the interior pages are generally clean and legible. H 5.25″, W 7″, D 9.5″. Please see photos for condition.
