Description

A captivating trio of vintage publications celebrating the life and achievements of Thomas Alva Edison, making this a prime acquisition for history and science enthusiasts. The collection includes an 1879 first edition of Edison and His Inventions edited by J.B. McClure and published by Rhodes & McClure of Chicago, featuring a private library stamp for “E.D. Richmond” and an early owner’s signature. The second volume is a rare 1929 commemorative book titled To Thomas Alva Edison and Guests, printed in Greenfield, Michigan, to mark the Light’s Golden Jubilee celebrating the invention of the incandescent lamp. The final piece is a beautiful 1929 large-format tribute book, Edison: Honored Throughout the Entire World (cover titled Thomas A. Edison: Testimonials, Tributes, Honors), compiled by the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies for their 45th annual meeting in Quebec, complete with a striking raised relief bronze-tone portrait medallion on the cover and an original 2-cent Edison commemorative stamp tipped inside. Structurally, the books show anticipated age-related wear, including minor scuffing, staining, and fading to the cloth boards, light bumping to the corners, shelf dust, and gentle toning to the interior pages, though the text, stamps, and illustrations remain crisp and legible.
