Description

A compelling four-volume lot of historical literature focusing on America’s premier inventor, Thomas Alva Edison, anchored by a complete three-volume softcover set of Menlo Park Reminiscences, written by his original staff laboratory assistant Francis Jehl and published by The Edison Institute in Dearborn, Michigan, between 1937 and 1941. Accompanying the trilogy is a first-edition hardcover copy of The Diary and Sundry Observations of Thomas Alva Edison, edited by Dagobert D. Runes and published by the Philosophical Library in New York, featuring a 1948 copyright date, a striking illustrated dust jacket, and a photographic frontispiece depicting Edison in his chemical laboratory. In terms of condition, the three Reminiscences volumes remain structurally excellent with tight, secure bindings and no tears to the textured paper wrappers, showing only light, expected surface scuffs and minor corner wear. The 1948 hardcover volume features crisp interior pages and a solid binding, though its dust jacket exhibits visible edge wear, chipping along the spine ends, and a small loss to the upper right front corner. Volumes 1 & 2: H 7.5″, W 4.75″, D 1″, Volume 3: H 7.5″, W 4.75″, D 0.75″, Diary Volume: H 8.75″, W 5.5″, D 1″. Please see photos for condition.
