Lot 1056:
Description
Brown wax cylinder features the popular recording artist Mr. Dan W. Quinn performing the classic Irish-American folk song “Drill, Ye Terriers, Drill” (Catalog #4009), likely produced by the Chicago Talking Machine Company circa 1895–1896. This remarkable find includes a an incredibly rare, authentic original paper title slip enclosed in a protective sleeve, and a cardboard storage tube with a partial blue paper label, though it is unknown if the tube is original to the cylinder.. The brown wax cylinder is in good, stable condition with no detrimental cracks or scratches visible, while the cardboard tube exhibits heavy wear, including paper loss, tearing, and fading to the labels; the original paper slip shows heavy toning, creased folds, and minor edge chips but remains fully legible. Cylinder: H 4.25″, W 2.25″, D 2.25″; Cardboard Tube: H 4.25″, W 2.5″, D 2.5″; Paper Slip: H 4″, W 3″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
