Description
An early 1890s brown wax blank cylinder record, complete with its original heavy cardboard storage container. While an accompanying period handwritten note attributes this specimen as a “North American blank” featuring “faint singing” from a historic home or field recording, definitive brand attribution remains uncertain, though its distinct single beveled edge and grooved plaster-composition inner lining strongly align with production from the historic North American Phonograph Company era. Objectively, the cylinder exhibits a vertical hairline crack extending approximately 1.5 inches upward from the base, along with typical surface aging, heavy mottling, and organic discoloration, while the storage tube shows expected shelf wear, scuffing, and minor fading.
