Phonograph Records And Books Auction - ONLINE ONLY
Lot 1001:
Description
This lot features a vintage phonograph brown wax cylinder, complete with its original cardboard storage container and lid. A fascinating artifact from the late 19th or early 20th century, these cylinders were the earliest commercial medium for recording and reproducing sound, pioneered by companies like Edison and Columbia. The cylinder is accompanied by a handwritten note stating “Very faint horns, Short cylinder.” Shows expected age-related wear, with surface dust, light spotting, and minor discoloration to the wax cylinder, and typical scuffing, fading, and edge wear to the cardboard container. H 4.75″, W 2.75″, D 2.75″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
