Roy Hayden Pointer Dog Sporting Art
This work of American sporting art depicts a Pointer on point, rendered in oil on canvas by the artist Roy Hayden. The canvas is mounted to a board and housed in a large, ornate gilded wood frame. The composition utilizes impressionistic brushwork in the landscape to highlight the anatomical detail of the dog. A vintage typed label on the reverse identifies the piece as “ORATION (P)” and indicates a former display location on a “Reception-East Wall.” The item is in good vintage condition with an objective assessment revealing minimal loss of gilding in the lower-left corner of the frame, minor surface craquelure, a torn paper backing, and a partially detached hanging wire.
