Description

This character-rich German Regimental lidded beer stein celebrates service with the 2nd Battery, 4th Baden Field Artillery Regiment No. 66 stationed in Neubreisach from 1910–1912. Crafted from porcelain with a striking pewter lid featuring a military-themed relief—including an artillery piece and a soldier’s portrait—it serves as a classic memento of Imperial German military service, known as a Reservistenkrug. The interior of the lid bears the mark “GESETZL. GESCHUTZT,” indicating it was a legally protected design of the era. The exterior displays colorful graphics of the unit in action, while the base features a lithophane image, a hallmark of high-quality steins of this period. Regarding condition, the piece shows significant structural distress; there are pronounced hairline cracks in the porcelain body extending from the handle area downward into the base, as well as a crack in the bottom base visible when viewed from inside the vessel.
