Description

This striking piece of cycling history is a rare, early “Hartford” bicycle, a brand famously associated with the Pope Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. Evidenced by the iconic head badge featuring a regal stag, this bicycle reflects the late 19th or very early 20th-century era of cycling innovation. Built as a rigid, single-speed machine with a classic diamond frame, it features a deeply aged leather saddle that showcases significant patina and cracking, evocative of its long history. The frame remains structurally sound, though the overall condition shows expected wear for an item of this age, including heavy surface oxidation on the metal components, deteriorating rubber tires that are currently flat, and general paint loss consistent with authentic storage aging; it does not roll easily and should be treated as a display or restoration project. H 37″, W 21″, D 69″. Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/ Transport required. Contacts available post auction.
