Description
This exquisite New Haven Clock Co. mantel clock is a quintessential example of the Art Nouveau movement, featuring the flowing, organic lines and floral motifs that defined the era. Cast in metal with a rich gold-tone finish, the case depicts a graceful maiden amidst sinuous whiplash curves and embossed clover-like blossoms. The porcelain dial is elegantly decorated with a floral swag and an open book motif, bearing the manufacturer’s mark and “U.S.A.” origin. While the movement responds to manual adjustment of the hands and attempts to trigger its chime cycle, it currently requires professional servicing to restore full mechanical operation. The lot includes the original winding key and a detached decorative lateral loop. Condition is fair to good; the case displays areas of surface wear, oxidation, and verdigris typical of age, particularly at the base. Notably, one lateral loop has a failed previous solder repair and is present but detached. H 15.5″, W 10.75″, D 8.25″. Please see photos for condition.
