This stunning Art Nouveau figural clock, titled “La Pensée” (The Thought), captures the quintessential elegance of the early 20th-century aesthetic. The piece features a graceful spelter figure of a woman in repose, leaning thoughtfully against the clock housing, finished in a rich, multi-toned bronze and verdigris patina. The timepiece itself is a high-quality Seth Thomas movement—a legendary American manufacturer based in Thomaston, Connecticut—featuring a clean white dial with classic Roman numerals and a beaded brass bezel. This style of “cabinet” or mantle clock was highly popular during the Belle Époque for its fusion of functional timekeeping and fine sculpture. Physically, the clock shows a charming aged patina with minor surface wear, small scuffs to the base, and light oxidation consistent with its 100-year history.
