Description
This exquisite Art Nouveau table lamp, titled “Muse des Bois” (Muse of the Woods) as seen on the brass plaque in image_3, features a classically draped maiden cast in white metal with a deep verdigris-green patination. The figure is nestled among scrolling oak branches and acorns, which terminate in three elegantly curved light sockets.
Each light is adorned with a stunning iridescent “oil spot” favrile-style glass shade, reminiscent of the organic forms popularized by Loetz or Tiffany during the early 20th century. The base bears the cast signature of “W.H. Bering” as shown in image_4. While the piece retains its original charm, there is visible surface wear and paint loss to the green finish on the tiered base, along with minor oxidation and dust accumulation consistent with age. One central bulb is functional, but professional rewiring is recommended for safety as the current cord appears aged. Dimensions: H 29″, W 18″, D 9″, Base 8″D. Includes one extra lamp shade.
