Description

Universal Stock Ticker Machine, Thomas Edison simply improved an existing patent in 1869, he sold the rights to Western Union for $25,000 which allowed him to set up shop in Menlo Park New Jersey and embark on a career which changed the world.
This invention for the first time allowed traders to receive quotations directly in their office. By the 1880’s, there were about 1000 stock tickers installed in the offices of New York bankers and brokers. This model called the “Universal” was used from about 1880 until the early 1900’s. It is complete in all original unrestored condition from the 1960s. It has a replacement paper spool. The glass dome sold as the next lot is original but did not come with this machine but is correct for this model.
