Description

A highly desirable nine-piece archive tracing the golden era of early 20th-century American recorded music, documenting the industry’s critical transition from acoustic cylinder formats to early electrical disc recording processes. This collection includes two 1927 Gennett Records “Electrobeam” supplements from Richmond, Indiana, a 1931 Gennett Records billing invoice from Detroit, Michigan, a beautifully preserved Okeh “Blue Book of Blues” Race Records catalog showcasing legendary blues artists like Sara Martin and Hociel Thomas accompanied by Louis Armstrong’s Jazz Four, two illustrated Vocalion Records catalogs featuring Marconi Company’s Process Electrical Records, a Brunswick “Light-Ray” Electrical Records pamphlet featuring Vincent Lopez, an early U-S Everlasting Records Grand Opera cylinder selection guide from Cleveland, Ohio dated October 1911, and a scarce trade price list for mechanical roller organs and music rolls. The lot exhibits age-appropriate physical wear consistent with archival paper of this era, including creasing, minor staining, surface abrasions, and edge chipping, with more pronounced tattered edges and paper loss visible on the cover of the 1911 U-S Everlasting booklet, though all pieces remain structurally complete and highly legible. H 8.5″, W 7″ (Gennett Documents); H 8.5″, W 11″ (Gennett Invoice); H 7.25″, W 5″ (Vocalion Catalogs); H 7.75″, W 4.75″ (Brunswick Pamphlet); H 7.25″, W 5″ (OkeH Catalog); H 6″, W 3.5″ (Music Roll Price List); H 9″, W 4″ (U-S Everlasting Catalog).
