The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3501:
Description
This rare, early 20th-century mail-order catalog titled “Columbia Graphophones on Credit” was issued on August 15, 1907, by the Spiegel, May, Stern Co. of Chicago, Illinois. Featuring a wonderful, vibrant patriotic cover illustration of Uncle Sam listening to an early horn phonograph, this paper booklet provides a fascinating glimpse into turn-of-the-century American marketing, detailing their 30-day free trial offer and containing various state freight rate charts. The catalog is in heavily worn, fragile condition; both the front and rear covers are completely detached from the interior pages and exhibit heavy toning, water staining, chipping, and paper loss along the edges, including a large missing corner section on the lower right of the front cover. H 9.5″, W 6.25″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
