Description

This exceptional, original early 20th-century executive business card belonged to Calvin G. Child (C.G. Child), the historically vital Manager of the Recording Laboratory for the Victor Talking Machine Co. based out of Camden, New Jersey. As a legendary figure in early recorded sound, Child was responsible for signing and recording premier operatic and classical talent for the prestigious Victor Red Seal label. The card features an intricate, beautifully engraved early iteration of the iconic “His Master’s Voice” trademark in the upper-left corner, depicting Nipper the dog listening intently to a gramophone. Printed on heavy cardstock with a blank reverse, this piece represents a direct, museum-quality tie to the executive-level pioneering days of audio recording history. The card exhibits minor corner wear, very light surface toning, and minimal handling marks consistent with its advanced age, but remains completely intact with sharp text and clear graphics.
