The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3446:
Description
Finding a piece of early recording history like this September 15, 1897, Columbia Records cylinder catalog is an absolute thrill. This paper booklet features a prominent graphic of a hand holding a cylinder record on the cover, issued by Hawthorne & Sheble as General Sales Agents out of Philadelphia, PA. Inside, it documents the earliest commercial recordings of the era, including listings for the U.S. Marine Band, Steve Porter, and Dan Quinn. Objectively, this piece is in fair condition; while it retains both its front and back covers, it exhibits extensive old tape repairs and structural reinforcement throughout, with heavy chipping visible on the first few pages, though all internal text pages remain completely intact. H 6″, W 3.25″, D 0.1″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
