The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3437:
Description
This exceptional pair of commemorative booklets offers a poignant look at the immediate legacy of America’s greatest inventor, issued just after his passing in October 1931. The first piece, titled The Life of Thomas A. Edison in Word and Picture, features a wonderful, heavily illustrated comic-style biographical time-line highlighting his landmark inventions, while the second is a solemn In Memoriam bulletin published by the National Electric Light Association (N.E.L.A.) in November 1931, filled with elegant period tributes and a striking sketch of the wizard of Menlo Park. Both pieces are composed of vintage paper and cardstock. The booklets are in good vintage condition with intact front and back covers, showing only minor edge wear, light creasing along the spines, and age-appropriate toning and light surface smudging to the paper. Larger booklet: H 11.5″, W 8.5″, D 0.25″, Smaller booklet: H 10″, W 8″, D 0.25″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
