Lot 3429:
Description
An exceptional 21-piece assortment of vintage postcards centered heavily around Thomas Alva Edison, historical early sound recording, and the phonograph, as documented across multiple views. The collection includes early 20th-century lithographic, sepia, and photographic postcards featuring portraits of Edison, his laboratory, illustrations of the iconic “His Master’s Voice” Nipper dog, and whimsical phonograph-themed comic cards. This group represents various publishers from the Golden Age of postcards, spanning approximately 1905 through the 1930s, with 11 cards remaining unused and 10 featuring postmarked stamps and handwritten period correspondence on the reverse. The physical condition is generally good for their age, exhibiting typical edge wear, minor corner rounding, scattered foxing, surface smudges, and slight toning common to antique paper stock. Individual card measurements are approximately H 3.5″, W 5.5″, D 0.01″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
