The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3390:
Description
An exceptional pair of early 20th-century phonograph ephemera, these original paper booklets were published by the National Phonograph Co. of Orange, New Jersey. The smaller, beautifully preserved booklet features a striking Art Nouveau polychrome cover depicting Thomas A. Edison and a graphic of early cylinder record tins, listing “Edison Gold Moulded Records: American Selections” up to April 1905. The larger, thicker volume serves as a comprehensive “Numerical and Alphabetical Index of Edison Records” for trade use, updated through February 1909 and listing Amberol, Standard, and Grand Opera selections. Both pieces show age-appropriate wear from historical use; the 1905 booklet exhibits minor edge wear and light spine stress but remainsemarkably vibrant, while the 1909 trade index shows heavier cover creasing, spine splitting, small paper losses along the edges, tape residue on the inner cover flap, and general handling smudges. Larger catalog: H 6.5″, W 3.5″, D 0.25″. Smaller clog: H 6.25″, W 3.5″, D 0.05″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
