The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3385:
Description
This is an exceptional gathering of early turn-of-the-century ephemera celebrating the pioneer of recorded sound, Thomas A. Edison, manufactured by the National Phonograph Co. of Orange, New Jersey and the North American Phonograph Company of New York City. As an avid collector, these original paper pieces are a true window into early home entertainment history, showcasing beautiful period graphics, dealer stamps, and technical operation details. The lot includes an “Edison Phonographs” booklet with a stunning green Art Nouveau floral cover featuring a portrait of Thomas Edison, an early blue-covered “Catalogue of Phonographs”, a “Making Records at Home” instructional pamphlet, and a fold-out brochure titled “Directions for Using the New Type Edison Phonograph”. Physically, the items show a range of honest wear fitting their age; the green Edison portrait booklet remains in good condition with both covers intact; the blue catalog cover is complete but exhibits visible corrosion from the staples on the upper spine; the “Making Records at Home” booklet is partial with its rear cover detached; and the fold-out directions brochure shows light staining, a pencil inscription, and minor folds but is complete and in fair condition. Each item measures H 6″, W 3.25″, D 0.1″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
