With the advent of the phonograph arriving on the scene for individual use in the 1890’s, many entrepreneurs saw its potential. This is a brochure advertising Rosenthal’s Practical Linguistry using Edison’s Phonograph. An engraving of a North American is on the back cover. Dr. Richard S. Rosenthal’s Method of Practical Linguistry was a groundbreaking language-learning program that became one of the first systems in history to use the phonograph for home audio instruction during the 1890s.
