Description
An exceptional find for the early phonograph enthusiast, this rare, late-19th-century paper softcover booklet is a “Catalogue of Standard New Jersey Records for the Edison Phonograph.” Published by the United States Phonograph Company out of Newark, New Jersey, this historic piece of audio history served as a vital sales directory for early cylinder recordings. The back cover features a detailed period engraving of a “Kansas Standard Automatic Nickel-In-The-Slot Phonograph,” while the interior includes an alphabetical index of recording artists and genres, ranging from historical bands like Sousa’s Band to unique late-1800s specialties. This item is in fair antique condition, displaying expected signs of age including uniform toning, minor foxing, surface smudging, and visible edge wear with soft corners on the paper wraps.
