The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3248:
Description
The Rectorphone is a cylinder phonograph patented in late 1905. Designed by Enoch J. Rector, it was sold briefly in 1906 as a bare-bones, low-cost alternative to the more expensive machines then on the market. Due to its flimsy construction and poor sales, very few units have survived. This machine is in poor condition and is missing the horn, governor straps and balls, and the reproducer. The spring motor does wind and run. Measures 10” wide, 5.25” deep, 6” tall. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection
